Cluevio AI is a Chrome extension developed by Hemesh Gupta. It helps you understand selected webpage text using your own ChatGPT session. This policy explains the extension’s data handling. Cluevio AI is independent of OpenAI and Google.
Information used to answer your questions
When you select text on a supported webpage, Cluevio AI reads that selection and a short excerpt of nearby text on your device to display the Ask AI button. Selecting text alone does not send the selected content to ChatGPT.
When you click Ask AI, the extension sends the selected text, the page title, and that nearby excerpt to ChatGPT through a managed ChatGPT tab in your browser. Quick actions and follow-up questions are also sent to ChatGPT. The extension reads ChatGPT’s response and displays it beside your selection. A prompt does not add a separate source-page URL field, although a title or selected text can itself contain a URL or personal information.
Any personal, confidential, or sensitive information contained in text you submit is included in that submission. Only submit content you are comfortable sharing with OpenAI and are permitted to share.
Information kept in Chrome
Cluevio AI reads the current site’s hostname to apply its per-site on/off setting. It stores disabled hostnames using Chrome’s storage.sync service. Chrome may sync this preference across your signed-in browsers according to your Chrome settings.
The extension stores tutorial progress and tutorial version locally using Chrome storage. It stores the identifier of its managed ChatGPT tab in session storage. Questions, selected text, and answers are held in the active page and extension’s working memory; Cluevio AI does not maintain a separate persistent conversation database.
Cluevio AI does not read your browser history database. Access to current tab URLs and titles is used to manage its ChatGPT tab and the current site setting, rather than to build a browsing profile.
Who receives information
OpenAI receives the prompts described above through your own ChatGPT session. ChatGPT also processes ordinary service and account information under OpenAI’s policies. Connecting the extension can load ChatGPT before you send a question.
Cluevio AI does not ask for, read, or store your ChatGPT password, API key, authentication tokens, or authentication cookies. Chrome and ChatGPT handle your existing sign-in session.
Google provides Chrome’s extension storage and any Chrome Sync that you enable. The extension has no developer-operated server, advertising service, analytics SDK, or automated telemetry endpoint. It does not send your selections or conversations to the developer.
If you contact the developer by email, your address and the message you choose to send are used to respond to your request. Avoid including sensitive page content in support messages. You can request deletion of support correspondence.
Retention and third-party controls
Closing a card discards its visible conversation from that page. The managed ChatGPT tab may still contain the conversation until it is replaced by a new conversation or the tab is closed. Closing a card, closing a tab, or uninstalling Cluevio AI does not delete information retained by OpenAI.
The extension requests ChatGPT’s Temporary Chat mode. OpenAI currently states that temporary chats may be retained for up to 30 days for safety and are not used to improve models while they remain temporary. Saving a chat changes which account settings and retention rules apply. ChatGPT behavior, account or workspace settings, and OpenAI’s current policies determine processing and retention; Cluevio AI cannot guarantee zero retention or control OpenAI’s systems.

Your choices
You can stop submitting questions at any time, disable Cluevio AI for a site in the toolbar popup, or remove the extension. Re-enabling a site removes its hostname from the extension’s disabled-site list. Removing the extension removes its installed code and local extension settings from that Chrome profile; manage any Chrome Sync separately in Chrome settings.
Manage ChatGPT conversations, privacy settings, and account-related requests directly with OpenAI. The developer cannot access your ChatGPT account or delete data held by OpenAI or Google on your behalf.
Security and limited use
Prompts are submitted through ChatGPT over HTTPS. The extension displays sanitized response content and bundles its executable extension code locally. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Cluevio AI uses information received through Google APIs in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Extension data is used to provide the reading-assistance features described here. We do not sell it, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or transfer it for unrelated purposes.
Changes and contact
If data handling changes, this policy will be updated with a new revision date. Review the policy before using a materially changed version.
